Hey, I'm a junior. In our college counseling class, we are starting to talk about the common app and its essay. We are each brainstorming topics, and I have a question about my top idea:

First off, my topic is about how one time I watched my dad a surgery. I would first talk about how becoming a doctor has been kind of "forced" upon me because my family is pretty invested into medicine, but then I would talk about how, after this experience, I felt a strong passion to become a doctor. I would talk about how fascinated I was by my dad and his overall presence and stuff. Then maybe I would talk about my perspective on medicine and more on why I want to pursue it as a career. Obviously this is still an essay in its youth, but this is just a starter.

Now, my question: does my topic seem too... much? I mean I hear sometimes that schools would rather have me write about some incident not related to career goals or whatever. I mean topics like a fishing experience or overcoming a speech impediment. I don't know. Basically, is talking about me wanting to become a doctor sort of off-putting to colleges? Is it too much in the sense that I am trying to write about something TOO forward-looking and too much about a career? I don't know. It's kind of hard to put this question into words, but see if you can answer it for me please. Thanks.
