Hey,guys! I just had a question about my freshman schedule. So, how do I input my courses to noitfy UC Berkeley about it? Do, I just put it in the academic orientation section for the Letter and Science Advising and also on ScheduleBuilder?I'm completely lost and my parents are not a huge help Also, can anyone look over my schedule and give an suggestions about it? :)
Intended Pre-Med.....
Math 16A
Bio 1B
English R1B
Sociology 1

For your questions on what courses to take, you may want to give more detail on your goals:

What majors are you considering? (pre-med is not a major and can be done with any major)

What AP or other credit do you have?

You will be introduced to an outdated, inefficient system known as tele-bears when you go to your CalSO orientation. There, you will register for up to 10.5 units as Phase 1 of signing up for classes. You will be given a date for Phase 2, in which from your home computer, you can register for 16 units soft cap (you can register for as high unit of a class you’d like, as long as your unit count is not at or above 16).

I’m actually pursuing a Public Health Major and I’ve already gotten credited out of English R1A. So, any suggestions on any professors I should have for some of the R&C classes? :)

For R&C courses, try going to the department web sites to see if the instructors and their reading lists are posted. If so, you can use this information to check which R&C courses have the most interesting reading for you. The list of R&C courses is here: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirement/rccourses.html

Keep the syllabus of any R&C course you take, in case any medical school that requires English composition courses questions whether an R&C course in Anthropology, History, South Asian, German, etc. qualifies as such. In addition, if you skip R&C A with AP credit, you may have to take an additional advanced English course (check whether English, College Writing, Rhetoric, or literature in English from any department qualifies) for medical schools that require two courses of English composition courses.

If you have not take calculus in high school, you may want to try this math placement exam: http://math.berkeley.edu/courses/choosing/placement-exam

Typical medical school course requirements are listed here, although they vary between medical schools: https://career.berkeley.edu/Medical/PrepPrereq.stm
