I got an 1820 on the SAT Reasoning Test in May. I know that this is a mediocre score and wish to raise it by at least 200 to 300 points.

My breakdown was:
CR:630
M:620
W:570 (ouch)

Is it realistic to expect my score to surpass 2000? Please advise on any strategies. I plan on taking the test in the fall and really want to get higher than a 2100, or at the very least 2000. I feel that the writing section is hurting my overall score the most.

How many questions answered correctly make for a 200 pt difference?

Thanks for all the advice.

i took it in May and got an 1880....and studied for two weeks and retook it in June 7th. i'll tell u what I got June 26th, LOL...im thinking 2050+.

Depends on how much and how well you prepare. I'm sure that if you spend like an hour a week each week during the summer, you can get it to above 2000. For the writing section, I recommend that you consult a book that teaches you the grammar you don't know (Gruber's is useful).

u can get it up for sure.....i just took it to the extreme. Studied 6-7 hours a day with breaks in between, and took about 12 practice tests in all.

I know, I am in the same boat. On my May SAT:
Math-590
Critical Reading-560
Writing-690
Composite-1840

This really sucks because writing is the easiest to improve, while CR is the hardest, sucks for me. For writing, just do a ton of practise questions. I went from a 51 on the PSAT to a 690 on the SAT.

Here were my psat scores:

60 Math
59 CR
54 Writing

173 Total

Here were my SAT scores the first time I took them (only 5 or so months later):

710 Math
670 CR
700 Writing
