Help on my college search

What kinds of schools general/specific should i be looking at? I have a 3.9 gpa w and a 2030 sat. Also, what school do you think would match along with my academics: Suburban, East Coast, Medium size, not huge greek life

Your GPA and SAT is competitive enough to look at most any school recommend, provided that you’re ec’s/etc are significant and you have great letters of recommendations/essays.

It would help to know what kind of majors interests you, and how flexible are you with the medium size and/or suburban. I ask because when I tend to think of Medium Size I think of 4-10K students. Off of the top of my head, I can’t think of any school in the east coast, in a suburban area that has a medium size body. It’s either the suburban school is small size, or the medium school is in a metro area. I might have different definitions of medium size than you, but on the smaller side is Wesleyan and Vassar.

try narrowing down your search on collegeboard.com… you can take their matching survey and you can find a whole bunch of schools

Oh yes I am pretty flexible with the size and suburban criteria. Political Science is a possible major.

beccabee- the results I got from my search on cb were too broad

UMBC comes to mind. UNC-CH which is thats larger but its not huge and you’d be competitive. A lot of schools in Carolina really. William & Mary definitely.

Actually I was looking at Wake Forest m4dskillz… That might be a reach though… Not quite sure

bumptown. others?

i dont think wake forest is a reach would be a reach for you… your stats and what youre looking for are like me. my list is boston c, william and mary, cornell, duke, georgetown, tufts, u penn, u rochester, uva, vanderbilt, and wake forest. obviously some of those are reaches and others matches. i also have safeties (tech, george mason, etc).

thanks beccabee! have you visited wake yet? also, what are you planning on majoring in?

Villanova!!! It is located in a suburb of Philly. It is a little smaller than i think you are looking for but they make up for it in school spirit (NOVA NATION!!!). Also while they do have a greek system they are a dry campus. I assume that you dont want a huge greek system because you are not a huge drinker, if I am wrong my apologies. If that is your reason I just want you to know there is more to the greek system than drinking and partys. But honestly Villanova is a very nice school and they are strong in nursing and business. And their Basketball team is awesome!!!

beccabee George Mason is a huge commuter school I have a friend that goes there and is not happy because a lot of people commute or go home for the weekend!

What is your home state?

What is your likely career?

How much will your parents contribute towards your education? Will they pay $50k+ each year for the school of your choice?

really? i never knew that about gmu.
i’m planning on double majoring in history and biochem
and my mom and i are going to visit wake and duke over spring break

kdswim: i dont care about drinking/partying at all… its just if frat boys rule the campus, the school is not somewhere i want to be. i’d rather have a non-greek social/party life.

mom2: California, idk about career, money is not a huge issue…

Wake is less competitive than you think, especially since SATs aren’t required. Interviews are weighted heavily, and your high GPA is a plus.

Poly Sci…

How about…

American U
George Wash U
Georgetown

ok thanks mom2… ill be sure to take a look at those suggestions
