Have you ever been to a poetry slam? I saw the event listed on the schedule on the Downtown Summer Festival, and I decided to go just to satisfy my curiosity. Even before sitting down the decision was to stay only for a few minutes. I have always loved poetry but even good poems can sound dull when people read them aloud in a flat, singsong voice.

should be “became”

the rest you can google and you will get CC threads with the same questions plus answers.

1) B is incorrect because “still” is defined as “up to or at a specified time.”

No where in the sentence original does it say or imply that Stowe was only renown up to a certain point in time. By choosing B, you are distorting the original meaning. Subtle? Yes. Incorrect? Yes. Next time, try consulting a dictionary.

2)

3) Use past tense. “Becoming” is the present participle of “become.” The events obviously happened in the past, so the past tense “became” is needed.

4) “asked for” -> “asked that”

5) Ugh, I hate those questions.

I’ve tried googling at only got one answer to one of my questions. Anybody else?

^ no

B is incorrect because the only adverbs you can follow a semicolon with are moreover, therefore, however, and consequently.

2) The profession cannot have a gender, and rapid needs to be rapidly, so it has two errors.

This is correct. The brackets note my corrections.
In recent years, the number of women who practice veterinary medicine, a profession once almost exclusively male[-dominated/dominated by males] has rapid[ly] increased.

The sentence wasn’t assigning a gender to profession, it was simply saying that the profession was almost exclusively male.

A profession can’t be male! It’s male-dominated! Well, that sounds awkward, dominated by males sounds better.

@sheepgetkilled
A semicolon is for seperating two independent clauses instead of using , co-conjunction

Still is wrong because it is redundant or because Still refers to a opposite expection which is not the case.
Opposite expectation:
Everybody hates Micheal;still, he manages to make everybody laugh.
You expect that because everybody hates Micheal his presence would annoy them , but he makes them laugh instead.

Here’s something about semicolon usage that’ll make you laugh ;):

^ How do you post links???

^What, you can’t post links?

I just copy and paste the link …

Here’s the link again - the previous link appears broken …
