Help on transfering to a CUNY

Hello community of College Confidential

It's great to be amongst seniors and those who are experienced that can provide assistance.

I am currently attempting 5 classes, 18 credits (Chinese 2, Macro Econ, Accounting, English 101, and Algebra/Trig) and have accumulated 11 credits last semester with a weighted average of 3.44 GPA.

I live in the city and it takes an hour just to come here(SUNY Farmingdale) and walking from the station to campus is great exercise, but laborious, so I have been looking for some city colleges that might provide something of my interests.

I really don't know where I'm headed but I found myself liking accounting and possibly computer science, so when I heard Baruch provided good business classes, I wanted to know if I qualified for transferring.

My highschool grades are not good at all as I skipped a lot and fooled around but now I'm determined to study hard and hope my GPA doesn't fall. I was wondering what the requirements were to get into CUNYs such as Baruch, Hunter, City College, and Queens, without having to submit my SATs and HS GPAs.

Also, should I even attempt to transfer at this point or should I graduate with a LA&S here before transferring?

I'd be happy to provide more information where needed. Thank you

The college websites contain most of the information you need:

[Transfer Students - Undergraduate Admissions - CUNY](http://www.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/prepare/transfer.html)

Also talk to your advisor about transferring as they should have current information and experience.

I go to a CUNY and for you to be considered without your high credentials, you need at least 24 transferrable credits. Hunter is quite competitive so I would suggest you wait till you get the 24 credits and maintain at least 3.0 GPA but Queens is not as competitve compared to Hunter and City of course.

Good luck!
