Help on transferring please!

Hi, i am a college senior heading to Johns Hopkins next year
I have been rejected to my dream schools so i want to transfer next year
so since i am not an expert in transferring i need yall's help :)

First, my sat score is 2150 (act 32) which is kinda low for ivy league schools
(I am an asian (korean) international student) so do u guys recommend retaking it?

second due to the senioritis my grade for 2nd semester senior year is kinda low
(straight B) is it going to affect a lot?

I am thinking of applying to cornell upenn and HY

plus when i apply to cornell is it better to apply for easy colleges(hotel, ILR, agriculture) and do the internal transfer after i got in?? please give me a lot of feedback :)

Thanks

Top schools are notorious for having a very low number of transfer students each year. Harvard had like ~5 last year if I remember correctly and I’m not terribly sure at Cornell. You’d need to really be an amazing applicant to get a transfer. JHU is not a bad school at all, are you sure you want to transfer?

i know jhu is really amazing! but i have always dreamed of going to top schools (HYPS) so i might just try so any advice? if i don’t get in i will be happy attending jhu

I mean, all of those schools have transfer information if you google “<school name=”“> transfer process”. It’s very difficult and honestly, I just can’t see the value in transferring from JHU. You would literally have to be the most qualified candidate they have ever seen to get a transfer into HYPS nowadays. To be clear, I’m not trying to discourage you, I just think it’s pointless and highly unlikely. It’s nothing personal. Enjoy your time at JHU; my best friend is going there next year and it’s a great school.</school>

JHU>Cornell. There is no reason for you to want to perform that transfer.

@gadiii, easy there, champ. How so?

Sorry, twas a heat-of-the-moment response. Didn’t notice the thread was on Cornell territory. In terms of “top schools”, JHU and Cornell are equals. From what I’ve seen, JHU students aren’t just GPA/stats, and are actually committed to their fields.

I personally just chose Cornell over Hopkins and over other top schools. It’s all a matter of opinion and feel, and Cornell seemed to offer everything I wanted… and if you’re looking at rankings, I think they’re only two apart? A difference that small can’t count for much.

But anyways, most likely, you’re going to start school at Hopkins and settle in and have an amazing experience and not want to leave. But if not, I wish you luck… transferring into such high-level schools is not easy.

I wouldn’t do this since they actually aren’t easier to get into if you’re not interested in what they teach. Adcoms are quite good at seeing your demonstrated interest and how it relates to the school you’re applying to.
