Help on UCB Breadth forms

So, here's the thing: I'm missing one course for IGETC, and I don't have the language requirements for L&S, so how should I fill out this form on myBerkeleyApplication? Should I just choose IGETC and include everything I've got?

Thanks

Are you at least planning on taking the one course during the spring?

If you’re applying for College of Letters and Science and you don’t have IGETC completed by spring, you won’t be offered admission.

Is it that black and white? What about for UCLA?

I think it is. Unless you had to take lots of major prerequisites that it wouldnt even allow you to fulfill IGETC than you can’t get admitted.

@gambon111 Yes, for College of Letters and Sciences you MUST complete IGETC by Spring to gain admission.
You can check it yourself here: <a href=“Application FAQs - Office of Undergraduate Admissions”>Application FAQs - Office of Undergraduate Admissions;

I don’t know how UCLA looks at completion of IGETC for admission purposes. Possibly the same, not sure on that one though.

Just checked UCLA’s site, and they say “highly recommended,” so I’m gonna see if I can get into a class that will count (classes have started already for me). If not, I guess I’ll just hope for the best from UCLA (UCLA is my UC of choice). One class really doesn’t seem like it would matter much, but hey-ho. Thanks guys.

Partial credit
Students who do not complete IGETC before transferring will be required to satisfy the specific lower-division general education/breadth requirements of the UC college or school they attend. However, California community colleges may grant partial certification of IGETC to students who are missing no more than two requirements. Students submitting partial IGETC certification should complete the missing requirements at either UC or a California community college as designated by their department. Students who have been granted partial IGETC certification should not return to the community college for a full certification.

This is encouraging, UCLA just sent this email to me:

“This will not impact your admission as IGETC is not a requirement for admission.”

Nice! That’s some relief. Best of luck to you.
