The answer is C, but I put E.

The Pony Express was an ingenious system for carrying [mail; it was in existence only briefly, however,] before the telegraph system made it obsolete.

A. mail; it was in existence only briefly, however,
D. mail, having existed only briefly

for this one i think D just doesnt make sense because the fact that it existed only briefly before the telegraph doesnt explain why the pony express was an ingenious system

I have gone [to] [only one] football game [after] I [graduated] from high school. [No error]

The answer is C, but I put E.

after should be since

The radio station received [the most number] or calls from listeners [on the evening] [it] aired a discussion of [the music of] Aretha Franklin. [ No error]

The answer is A [the most number]. I assume it should be ‘greatest number’? But why?

not sure but i thinkk A should actually read a great number of calls … because its not being compare to anything else

When the village elders [present] recommendations, [there is] [hardly ever] any opposition [against] their proposals. [No error]

The answer is D.

it should be opposition to … just one of those things that can’t be explained but you need to know

Oops, for 3 it should be “most number oF calls…”

thanks for the responses so far

for the pony express one my explanation wasnt too great … a sentence that would make sense would be like … “The Pony Express was an ingenious system for carrying mail, having been the first fast way to deliver mail”

when you say “,having…” the structure of the sentence just makes it so that what follows should explain the first part of the sentence. but the second part of the sentence is actually something surprising (that the pony express was short-lived despite its being ingenious) and explaining why it didn’t last too long

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks!
