0: Oh, no. I just read the entire thread. I am so sorry homer, but 2 subject tests is a requirement. No one is exempt from having to fulfill this rule.

If I were you, I would write a letter to Harvard explaining your situation. If they feel nice, they might (slim chance, though) let you take an AP or do something else in place of a subject test? This is far-fetched, of course, but it doesn’t hurt to try-especially because you already applied to Harvard.

@jgraider, what if he wanted to have more time to study and thus took the subject test in January? There is nothing wrong with that. Absolutely nothing.

As for how he was booted from the testing room… I don’t know. He said he was “causing a disturbance” but I obviously don’t know the details.

I’m just saying that he already applied to Harvard and might as well let them know. Writing a letter explaining his situation is better than not giving an explanation at all.

I’m grateful I can apply to Harvard, and that I have a fantastic application to represent me. Not to mention the past four years. After all, this is Harvard’s second year of the Subject Test requirement. The current class of 2013 (yet to graduate) had NO subject tests. Bottom line, it’s not the end of the world. An admissions panel that wants a student won’t let one test stop that, obviously. They’re human too.

^You already applied, just write a letter informing them of your situation. I am sure that they won’t really automatically REJECT you, but they might if the pool is competitive this year.

I was never aware of the SAT II until recently. None of the other 4 schools (none!) mentioned the SAT II. For the one test I took, I’m confident I did very well. The test was similar to an AP I took this past May.

I hate to say this, but you should have done more research or realized earlier if you were really interested in Harvard. Ahh! That sounds so mean-I am so sorry ): I don’t mean to be… well, mean. Best of luck to you, though. And I mean it.

My point is that being foreign or ESL is no excuse for bad English at Harvard.

The best you can do is write a HUMBLE and HONEST letter (don’t mention anything about your amazing application) explaining why you only can give them one subject test. Harvard will probably contact CB or something and ask for the incidence report that the proctor filled out after you got booted.

What are the other 4 schools? To my knowledge, the majority of so-called top-tier schools do require subject tests.

@hahalolk: I lol’d at your chances comment, and I agree that RainbowSprinkles is awesome. :)

Don’t bother to try to get me to feed you, I’m not replying after tonight (this moment). I’m feeling comfortable about this. After speaking with an alum (yes, actively involved as an admissions officer in MA…) everything is looking to be alright. Will call Cambridge later this Monday.

Both Boston College and MIT require subject tests. In addition to calling the Harvard admissions office, make sure you contact the other two as well.

Yes you’re right. Boston is my ‘backup’ in case I decide to stay here for school. I spent about 30mins on that app lol… less competitive than Harvard or Mass. My sights are on Harvard, Madrid or Oxford.
