Help! Optional report and mid year report.

Ok, so I’m only taking four classes in my first semester of my senior year because I had surgery at the beginning of the year and missed 3 weeks of school and therefore dropped a couple electives (finance and bible). Of the four classes that I am taking, 3 are AP and the other is Anatomy. For my second semester, I will join two art classes to fufill a course requirement for some schools. I have also decided to self study for two AP tests that my school does not provide and also take a dual credit calculus course at a local community college.

In order to explain my situation to colleges, I asked my counselor to send an optional report explaining everything that I mentioned in the previous paragraph. However, he said that he wants to send the explanation with my mid year report. My first semester grades come out on February 1st. Considering the fact that most college deadlines are January 1st- January 15th, I feel like this is way too late to let colleges know about my situation. I bet most colleges have already begun the review process for RD, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

All in all, I am wondering if February 1st is way too late to send this explanation? Or should I demand that it gets sent as an optional report tomorrow?

Did you mention this in your essays or additional information sections?

No @AdamD

If I were your counselor, I would have included that information in the first batch of info sent (along with school report, transcript, etc.). But that is only 2 weeks after materials are sent in, since you are RD, it should be fine! But be sure they get SENT Feb. 1st…if grades come out Feb. 1st, how long are they going to take to send? This is a conversation you probably should have with your counselor.

So it should be completely fine to send it during the mid year report? @STF4717
