Schools:

Barnard ED
UPenn
Tufts
UVA
William&Mary
Gerogetown
Tulane
Duke
UNC

Which one's are realistic for me? Thanks so much!

I’d say that georgetown’s a good low-mid reach for you. tufts is a high match. duke and penn are gonna be hard without a better SAT score and without stellar ECs. However, your trilingual-ness is good. If you improve your SAT, you can start looking at duke etc…

chance me back!!!

Yep, my SAT is going to be MUCH better. My tutor (who is pretty experienced, and predicted my scores perfectly) said I’ll end up with a 2200. Considering that, how much would that improve my chances? I know I can’t get anywhere with a 2030

If you truly get 2200, you have a chance any of these schools. At that point you stack up pretty well against anyone, given your grades and EC’s. Now of course the Ivies and some of the other very highly ranked schools only let in 10% of so of applicants, so in that sense your odds are low. But only in that sense, you have as good a chance as anyone else at that point. Maybe 2250 would make it a little more solid, but the Ivies keep saying that they see everything above 2200 as the same, so maybe we should take them at their word. In any case, you would get into some excellent schools with those stats. At Tulane you would likely get a very nice merit scholarship.

With a 2200
Barnard ED Match
UPenn-Match w/ legacy
Tufts- Match
UVA-Match
William&Mary-Match
Gerogetown-High Match
Tulane-Match
Duke-Match/High Match
UNC-Match

Can you chance me for:
UPENN
UCHICAGO(EA)
BROWN(ED)
STANFORD
NORTHWESTERN
VANDERBILT

To tell you the truth, I’m not really interested in Ivies that much. I really want to go to Barnard, so I’m applying ED, even though it is no where near the hardest on the list. Georgetown would be my second choice, and UVA after that.

Do I have a chance at Barnard ED?

You will probably get in if you do Barnard ED with a 2200, trust me.

What about a 2100? I could get that easily, I’m pretty sure. Also, I talked to Barnard during my pre-college program, and my double-legacy at Columbia apparently will be applied to Barnard. But I’m still so nervous, that I won’t get in anywhere.

That won’t happen. Even with your current stats you would get into Tulane almost certainly. With a 2100 you would likely get into Barnard. You would be right at the 50th % for test scores and your grades and EC’s are very strong. Of course, you would be wise to apply to a couple if other schools where your chances of getting in are very strong, but you will absolutely get into some fine schools.

thanks. If anything else, I woud love to go to tulane, maybe their honors program? They look like they have a LOT of fun there.

bump anyone?

In addition to retaking the SAT, I recommend that you take the ACT as well. Sometimes one test is much easier for people.

I was thinking about that, but I haven’t studied for the ACT’s at all…

Well there’s still plenty of time to start studying/take them!
Most juniors haven’t even taken the ACT/SAT yet, so you’re already ahead of the game :)

I guess, but I’m just wondering if I am a strong applicant, and which schools to aim for.

Your SAT sucks.

thanks, dude.

It doesn’t suck by any reasonable standards. While it’s not going to get you into Harvard, it’s respectable, especially if you can push it up a bit to 2200+. My cousin went to Tulane, and she confirmed, they have a LOT of fun. New Orleans is a great city for college students, and with your grades plus ECs, there’d probably be a nice merit scholarship/aid package. Georgetown (assuming CAS) is probably a mid reach even with the higher scores. UPenn and Duke are high reaches, but all others are high match-low reach.

Help me out? I’m pretty much at the same point as you are…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1047845-junior-looking-information-guidance.html

Thanks, I chanced you back.
