Unfortunately, I'm only familiar with a few colleges on your list.

BU: Match
NYU: Slight Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
USC: Slight Reach

I disagree. I think being OOS, UCSD is a reach. USC is also a reach. What's your weighted GPA?

Not sure weighted GPA, but I took 4 Ap's junior year and rest honors classes. I am gonna take 4 APs senior year as well.

Which schools do I have a shot at?

I think, given your decent GPA and rank, you have a good shot at Boston U, New York U, Syracuse U and USC. You should try to get your SAT up to 2000+.

yea. I will try for 2000. thanks

Just wondering, are the teachers at your school really tough? I ask this because your GPA is low for your class rank.

You probably want to increase your SAT II scores for some of the colleges you are looking at.

USC is more of a reach than a slight reach

oh wow, i thought you wrote "ASK OUT and Asian" for your title. Thought it was an interesting one until I went back and read it for the second time. heh

haha you sicko soysauce! Well my teachers are pretty tough, but it could also be my class is stupid?!

My highschool is ranked pretty high in the US though

Do I have a shot at UC San Diego?

How difficult is getting accepted in UCSD?
UCSD becomes more and more selective each year, and is currently the third most selective of the nine undergraduate UC campuses. For 2008, there were 47,407 applicants and 40.1% - or 19,010 - were accepted. The average UC GPA was 4.07 and the average ACT score was 28. University of California - Admissions

What are the requirements to get in?
You must complete the 15 A-G courses http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...ject_reqs.html with a UC GPA of 3.0 (CA Residents) or 3.4 (OOS). The UC GPA is your Sophomore and Junior year UC-approved courses only, with up to four year-long AP courses (and some UC approved honors courses) given extra weight. Find your high school here to see which of your courses are UC approved: https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/servl...3-0442ECC6C64E Here are the details on figuring your UC GPA: http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...ship_reqs.html
You must also take the ACT or SAT as well as two SAT subject tests in two different areas. With your UC GPA and your tests scores, you can use this calculator to see if you are eligible to apply: http://www.ucop.edu:8080/eligibilitycalc/begin.jsp "Eligibility" does not guarantee or suggest admission, it simply means your application will be considered.

Is UCSD a good university?!
Yes, UCSD is a "good" university, and has a particular reputation in the sciences.

Do you think I can get accepted to UCSD?!
Looking at the detailed admit rate chart http://www.universityofcalifornia.ed...ucsd_chart.pdf , there are some students fitting your profile admitted, but UCSD should be considered a reach and you should include other schools on your list. If you are a California resident and UC eligible, you are guaranteed a place at a UC campus - but not necessarily one of your choice. Consider adding UCSB, UCD and/or UCI as your possibilities and UCSC, UCR and/or UCM as your likelies.

how do you know your UC GPA?

oops. Realized you were from Connecticut.
Here you go: University of California - Admissions

I am eligible for UCSD. Now I am hoping I can get in!

smart cookie, where can i find admit rate charts for UCLA and Berkeley that are similar to that UCSD one?

One thing to keep in mind for UC GPA is that not all honors classes will get you a 5;
I think generally the honors classes are only the classes directly before the AP; so precalc, 4th year of a modern language (if 5 is AP, if not 3rd is probably honors), lit classes right before AP lit, and so on.
So classes like Algebra I honors will not be given 5 points, but will instead be out of 4.
