help out an Average Ann...

<p>Hi everyone! This is my first post on collegeconfidential after lurking on these boards for a while now...anyway, I have my list of colleges, but im concerned that they're mostly too reach-y for me. </p>

<p>17 year old high school senior from New Orleans, LA
National merit semifinalist
SAT: M700, V690, W790 (retaking nov 3)
ACT: 31 (retaking oct 27)
Subject tests: taking lit, spanish, and math2 on saturday
GPA: 3.88/4.0 UW...school doesn't weight honors courses
Courses: all honors courses throughout high school except for women's history senior year. taking as many AP courses as the school allows (2)
ECS: choir all 4 years
select choir 3 years
a capella group 2 years
high school play all 4 years
newspaper staff 2 years (editor in chief 12th grade)
peer support leader 2 years
national honor society 2 years
mu alpha theta 3 years
science olympiad 3 years (plus 4 in middle school, not that it counts)
italian club 2 years
plus others that I can't remember right now</p>

<p>MANY academic awards esp for spanish
highest scholarship award that my school offers for high school
NMSF
was a national spelling bee finalist
will graduate with Distinction in Music through the mentorship program at my school</p>

<p>some volunteer and work experience but not as extensive as it could have been...</p>

<p>essays will be no problem; i'm a strong writer and i've got the best english teacher in the school helping me along.</p>

<p>I am probably not exactly qualified to chance you but congrats on that Spelling Bee finalist!! Excellent. I hate it when kids can’t spell.</p>

<p>Yale: big maybe (but that’s true for everyone)</p>

<p>I’d say LSU, Charleston, Tulane and Miami are all good matches, and maybe even Vandy, too.</p>
