Help Out!! Extremely Interested Transfer

Hey guys,

What is the best way of getting into UNC-Chapel Hill as a Junior transfer? I want to eventually transfer into Kenan-Flagler. Does it even matter to say I want to eventually transfer there since I am applying to the general school first? Do they look at the my business/math courses and take those into consideration? My main GPA is a 3.7 but my class rigor is not great (although I do work FT) Let me know if you guys can! Thanks.

Hey dude,

I’m in the same boat as you. Applying in the next few months to begin as a Junior during Fall of 2012. I eventually want to transfer into Kenan-Flagler.

I’ve done quite a bit of research, and you’ll have to complete one (1) semester prior to being permitted to apply to Kenan-Flagler.

What sort of classes have you taken? With a 3.7 as a junior, you definitely have a good chance of being accepted, but of course, it depends on the classes you’ve taken. If you can list some of the clases you’ve taken, I’ll be able to give you a better idea.

any ideas?

Sorry man, I forgot to reply to you. Honestly, I think you have a great chance of getting in. Have a look here:

[Transferring to Carolina](http://admissions.unc.edu/Apply/Transfer_Students/Admissions_Evaluation.html)

“For enrolling sophomores, the average college GPA was 3.64 and the average SAT was 1247 (Critical Reading plus Math). For enrolling juniors, the average college GPA was 3.58 and the average SAT (not required of juniors) was 1209 (Critical Reading plus Math).”

I would keep in mind though that admissions does seem to get more comeptitive by the year, so I’d leave a little room for error in those numbers. I’d say the average this year might be somewhere closer to 3.62 (for junior transfers).

By the way, what Algebra did you take that is transferable? I’m trying to figure out if my algebra class is transferable.

Hey,

I was just going off the UC transferable list. After further review, it seems like two of my math classes (Pre calc/Algebera) wont transfer. I’m not even sure if they take business stats, or my accounting classes?

I made the same mistake, no worries. Have a look at this:

https://www.unc.edu/sis/adm/xfereq.html</a></p>

It has almost all community colleges/universities and it lists what classes have transferred over based on passed students. Keep in mind, it’s based on PASSED students, meaning the classes listed are ones that other students transferred to UNC. Some classes may be transferable, but just may not be on that list.

The math requirement is a bit confusing, but this is what I’m doing. I took precalc/trig last semester; they are combined into one class at my community college. So that’s one of my transferable maths. I’ll then be taking Stats this coming semester, and that will be my second transferable math.

If I were you, I’d get in touch with admissions as they could probably give you a better idea of what is transferable, and what isn’t.

But like I said, have a look at that link I provided above. It should answer some of your questions as far as classes transferring.

Yeah that is exactly what I looked at. Unfortunately they dont take business stats (well not that I see ;( ). I need to get in touch with admissions and see what they have to say.

I’m not in the business school, so I can’t help you! But I’m pretty sure you the application to the B-School is a different thing.

Snog,

What sort of math did you have completed/ what transferred?

I transfered from a community college, so it was litttle different. they didn’t take much,so i took what they did and im an english major, so math isn’t my thing. I took sats, alegbra etc

Snog,

Thanks for the response! I too am transferring form a CC. How many schools did you have listed on your common app?
