help out my best friend - he's having second thoughts

my friend thought he was ready to commit to either northeastern or penn state for the fall 2008 semester but he's having second thoughts. he still wants to apply to colleges with warm weather in the southeast. he has a 4.0 and around a 1200 SAT (cr and math). he's looking for a big school, good sports, good academically, and good weather year round. please list some schools that he can still apply to for the fall semester that meet this criteria, thanks.

clemson and auburn both are rolling and are warm, southern schools, with good sports, and are both good academically.

Getting away from your comfort zone is what college is all about. Fly away.

that's it? how about central florida, south florida? i was talking to him about clemson, and auburn. any more?

Clemson is pretty cool.

Alabama offers some pretty good academic schollies, so that could help, and it is clearly superior to Auburn :p

The University of Texas, University of Florida, and University of Georgia are the three most academically prestigious southern schools that would be taking apps. Not sure about Miami, that could work too.

i checked on collegeboard and it says all their SAT deadlines were in jan, he can still apply?

oh wusssuuuuuppp errybody..... AAAHAAAAAAAAA

Pretty sure, however Feb. 15 might have been a deadline. I would contact schools directly. Feb. 1 is the number at UT, but I wouldn't be shocked if they let him apply if you contact them directly.

oh what's good playboi

more suggestions pleaseeeee

let's say he applied to u of alabama, what kind of scholarships would he be looking at? jw

Looks like if you are after deadline they might not pony up. Not sure what he could get either, I just know they offer crazy money for National Merit, so I like 'em.

U of Texas--Austin is big and warm enough

Yes, Univ of Alabama's a good choice--and with a 4.0 he could probably get into Univ of Florida--although the test scores look too low for a school like Vanderbilt. How about Wake Forest--that might be a good choice also?

P.S. My own son left California to go to a midwest school and hates the cold--although he does like it when it snows and everything looks so beautiful afterwards.
