help over schedule

What do you think would be more beneficial toward applying for college: taking sports all four years (cross country for four, track and tennis for two) and being ranked third, or taking sports two years and being valedictorian? I'm not super competitive in any sport (I might make varsity tennis, but that's it), but I'm wondering if it is worth it to take sports and have my gpa suffer a little. thanks

2 years of lots of ECs is worth a hell of a lot more than 2 spots in class rank.

Also, who says your GPA will go down? Cross country and track are 2 hours a day tops, and I doubt tennis would be more than three.

My gpa won't really go down I guess...it just won't go up (I am currently behind the two valedictorians because of a schedule conflict last year). Taking sports means that I can't take a weighted honors class during sixth period. I figured that sports would probably be a better idea than looking like a total grade whore though...thank you for your advice.

I would take the sports.

I would take the sports and focus on doing well on SAT's, SAT II's and AP's.

Sports .
