Hello guys, I am planning to transfer to UC Davis for Managerial Economics. Right now I am at Community College and I have already opted to take a Humanities class (4 Qtr Units) with P/NP (Pass or No Pass) grading for Art requirement for GE. I am also planning to take a Public Speaking class (5 Qtr. Units) and a Philosophy class (4 Qtr. Units) with P/NP as well. This would be a total of 13 quarter units taken as P/NP. I figured that there is no way I can earn A’s in those classes (I have a 4.0 GPA right now).
For the Humanities and Philosophy classes, they are for IGETC or General Education.
I did some classes P/NP for IGETC. However I would not do the public speaking P/NP. You’re linking to a UCD page that’s referring to UCD courses. I wouldn’t risk it personally.
Hello. With the link I had, you can click on “Managerial Economics B.S.” It lists the course requirements for the major. Under the English Major Requirements, it says:
The following must be completed with a grade of C- (or P) or better:
CMN 001 Introduction to Public Speaking
Yes and I’m saying that’s for students already at UCD. You’re at a CCC and it does not say that on assist, and usually all major courses must be taken for a letter grade when applying as a transfer. Do it however you want but I repeat that I would not give UCD any reason they could grab to reject you.
Hey. I recently emailed a Managerial Economics advisor at UC Davis and he said that a “P” grade in the Community College equivalent of CMN 1 or 3 will count towards the major as part of the Major English Requirement. I went ahead and changed the grading to P/NP.
