Well, here is a way out: join the Air Force or National Guard or Coast Guard or other service. Leave home, get paid to go to college, and really make yourself independent.

Trying to talk your parents into something they are not supporting, without taking action yourself, is disingenuous. If you TRULY become independent, they can still love you, but not have to pay for your future "mistakes."

The military sounds like a way out, and I'm considering joining the military after college to gain leadership experience as a gateway to higher management jobs.

PCC is NOT ACCREDITED. If you join a Christian college, get in an accredited college.

Notice, however, that given the fact the U.S. is currently keeping troops in Iraq, if you join the military you may well be deployed. Other than that, if you can keep up with the demands of military life, I think its a great idea!

Or, if you are an American citizen, maybe look into doing ROTC at UF and getting an ROTC scholarship. That way, when you enter the Army you enter on the capacity of a second lieutenant, a commissioned officer. Relevant information is available here:

I'm actually considering to be an engineer officer. I'll most likely not get shot as they don't usually get sent into really hot areas. Plus, all those Marine jokes have a point. I'd rather be in the army where I'm not breaking into houses without knowing who or what's around the corner. I'd rather be bossing people around about sandbags and demolition.
