Hi my name is Chris,

I'm a freshman at Loyola Marymount University majoring in Poli Sci. I picked this school because A) I live blocks away (I commute) B )Play music in LA C) I got in. The school is great if you like rich kids that get drunk every night, and thats most defiantly not me. When choosing schools I didnt look back east because I knew that I wanted to work in the music industry and LA is the place to be for that ( I want to do Entertainment Law).

However, I feel that I'm not really experiencing a "real" college experience. There is no college town for LMU the closest thing to culture is in Santa Monica which is a 30 min drive + traffic. I knew this when I was applying but for some reason I didnt listen to myself. Thinking in the long term I should not transfer and I should stay in LA and maybe intern at a record label. In high school this was my dream/ I was one of those people that thought his life was perfectly set on track for the future.

I really want a college that is tight knit, some what sober, a strong music and arts community and has a vibrant college town around it. Any suggestions?

I was thinking about Ithaca College in NY and Lewis and Clark in Portland right now . any other suggestions?...I would probably shy away from the mid-west so mainly northeastern or northwestern schools please...

My grades in high school were not really amazing ( I was on tour for a good chunk of my senior year) but I managed a 3.4 and a pathetic 1090 SAT. So far in college I have all A's and one B.

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Chris
