Help please about some financial stuff

So I am debating. I got into Penn and a state school. the state school is almost everything paid (maybe 5000 / year). Penn though hasn’t really put any grants or anything out…

Furthermore it says my financial aid application isn’t complete. However I did the fafsa, css, the upenn financial aid form, and the two student and parent tax i.d. forms. However it says its still incomplete.

Also my EFC was roughly 25k. When I check penn’s site it says the costs are 49000 about. A 3500 Loan is all thats there… So whats up?

Finally what would you do. The state school or penn?

Well, if your financial aid app. is incomplete, they can't offer you a package yet.
Call them up and ask what is missing. Then, after they receive everything they will decide on complete fin. aid package w/ grants, loans, etc...
THEN you can compare the two schools.

All right I just called them and their office hours are closed. Then I e-mailed them and they said they'd respond in 4-5 work days. I think i will try calling on monday again.

I'm also in a Penn v. state school dilemma. PSU Honors would cost less than half of what a Penn education would; I am getting no financial aid.

Any thoughts on this?

Well see the thing is my dad is so crazy about pecuniary issues. He doesn't want to spend ANYTHING ever and he wants me to go to the state school for that reason. He earns about 100k a year and still hes like this. I am seriously going to convince him. He has so much saved up I believe because we rarely buy anything. Man I hate him somtimes.

Oh wow I just got the form today in mail. It said they never received the form (w-2 form + tax i.d.). I could of sworn I did though but anyhow my dad is sending them now as we speak so thanks for the help.

I have a similar issue with Pitt: I have enough scholarship money to get everything paid for - tuition, books, room/board, laptop.

Although, the more I read and hear about Penn, the more I want to go there. Plus, all the the Penn students and faculty I've spoken to have been incredibly receptive, and I got into the honors programs.

I can only pray for a good financial aid plan like you. It sucks how everything boils down to money in this world.

I'm in a similar situation. i could go to colgate or hopkins and only have to pay around 20 000, whereas if I go to penn I have to pay 33500. But I love penn way to much, so I'm proabbly gonna end up paying 33500 instead, I hope its worth it...
