Yeah, so I was deferred. Bummer. What I want to know is if there is anything I could do to raise my chances of being accepted later. My Unweighted GPA is 4.1. My ACT is 34. I've volunteered at my Sunday School the last 4 years, done a handful of other volunteering elsewhere. I have an SAT score of 2100, but I didn't send it in. Should I? Also, does anybody know what are the chances of being deferred-accepted? Thanks in Advance, and congrats to those who got accepted

Sorry, weighted GPA is 4.1 and ACT is 35

Don’t mean to sound harsh, but your weighted GPA is really low for UNC’s standards. I really hope you did well this semester, so your GPA can go up. I think on average, UNC’s freshmen class has an average of about 4.5 weighted GPA in highschool. Also, do submit your SAT score. I think it’s impressive and they might want to see that as well. Good luck

Yeah, i knew my GPA was low. It should go up with my semester grades Thanks for the advice

Good News: they deferred less students this year than previous years. They said they planned to defer 1400 applicants instead of the 2,000 or so from the previous year. The fact that you were deferred is a decent sign considering they could have flat out rejected you.

Bad News: the acceptance rate from the deferral pool is fairly low: about 15-20%. So that means they will likely only accept 200-250 of the deferred applicants.

Thanks for the info. Can I find that online?
