Help please! ED JHU, Northwestern, or UPenn?

Hi! I'm going to be a senior next year. I visited a few schools and JHU, Northwestern, and UPenn were my favorites. I'd honestly be happy going to any of them, but I want to know what you guys think my chances are for ED these three schools.

(UPenn is obviously risky, but am I good enough that it's worth the jump?)

SAT I superscore: 2320 800 Math 800 Writing 720 Reading
SAT II: Math II (800) Bio (740) I will take Lit and Chem this year!
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.72 (My school is very competitive.)
AP (place score in parenthesis): US Hist (4) Eng Lang (5) Bio (4) Calc BC (5) Psych (5)
Senior Year Course Load: AP Chem, AP Lit, AP Environmental Science, AP Economics, AP Statistics, Film

Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Prinicipal's choice for outstanding student, Teacher-given awards in English and Art, AP Scholar with distinction
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): National English Honor Society (President/Founder), Writing Center (VP/tutor), Student Magazine (Editor-in-chief), Varsity MUN (member), Math Honor Society (member/tutor), Soccer (JV Captain)
Job/Work Experience: Georgetown University (Did research, conducted interviews on Schistosomiasis while telecommuting with teacher in the US)
Worked at a Law Firm, got to go to a deposition/hearing as an associate + index papers
City Weekend Magazine (Edited, wrote for food column)
New York Times (Got to assist with editorial)
Local Hospital (Intern)
Volunteer/Community service: a lot for essay tutoring, three Habitat for Humanity trips, took care of heart-disease ridden patients, tutored math to High School students in Malawi to help prep for their College entrance exams
Summer Activities: Internships, One selective art course, One MUN conference where I both chaired/served as Deputy President
Essays: I'm generally confident in my writing abilities, so should be good. I'm writing one about a habit and one about my lineage.
Recs: My counselor doesn't really like me-but she respects me, so not sure. My teacher loves me though--she has already started working on hers.

I think my chances at JHU are the best. My boyfriend is also there so that would be a plus!
I love Northwestern, but my parents do not.
UPenn is my favorite--but it's difficult.

Thanks for your feedback and I will gladly chance you back! :)

I don’t think UPenn is out of the question…it just depends on which school you apply to. I don’t think you should apply Early Decision to the school you think you’ll benefit most from for making that decision. This is especially true if you need financial aid. I think you have a good chance to all with ED.

I think UPenn is definitely attainable for you! If it was me, I would do ED on UPenn because it is your favorite, and it may slightly increase your chances of getting in. Either way, you sound life you would be a top candidate for any university(:

UPenn- Mid-reach
Northwestern- High-match/Low-reach
JHU- High-match

I think you stand a good chance of getting into any of these schools because of all your qualifications!

anyone else?? i will chance back!

I dunno what you were talking about on my thread, your extracurriculars are impressive. Those with your high SAT are definitely factors that could push you over the edge for a Penn ED, I don’t really know the statistics from Northwestern or JHU but I’m sure those are definitely possibilities!

Having a 3.7 GPA, around what ranking in your class does that place you? You have the best chance of JHU ED, but what do you want to major in? Northwestern is a fantastic school! My sister goes there, great academics/athletics. And finally Penn would be the most difficult for you (and any applicant). But I highly recommend Northwestern personally, and JHU for probability! Good luck

Everything here is outstanding! The Volunteer Work makes you stand out in an amazing and unique way! JHU is a match and you’re not to far from UPenn or Northwestern! Chance me back?: Chance me (I’ll Chance Back!!) JHU, GW, NYU, BU, UVA,UConn, Wake Forest, and Brown

by the way, how did you find those volunteering opportunities ?

@livinglively you’re so sweet :)

@smarty99 It’s in the top 20%. My weighted is a 4.3 though, which I don’t think is really low. I go to school in China. We send about 25/200 kids to first-tier schools yearly (My definition of first-tier is UCB and up)
I LOVE northwestern but my parents are content on applying to an ivy early. I’d probably want to major in either law/journalism. But my parents want me to consider business as well.

@sergio mostly google! The school I volunteered at was a CNN Hero’s idea, so I contacted them. Mostly just asking around if I could help out.

Ah you’re an international student? Are you aware that if you need financial aid, you’re chance may decrease at these schools?

@smarty99 I’m considered out-of-state rather than international because my parents still pay taxes in the US. So I don’t think it’ll affect my chances for financial aid.
