<p>cbw123, thanks for the update. I would not sweat this… honestly, if my kids had been getting Cs, I would have had them drop back (Bs we can live with, Cs we can’t is our motto…). My kids are just awful at foreign languages, and we all acknowledge that (parents and kids – not an ounce of natural talent in the area). If he is still having trouble in the regular French class this year, a couple of options: </p>
<ol>
<li> Get him a tutor. We did this, and it definitely helped.<br>
Or<br></li>
<li> Have him switch languages. One of my kids took a year of Latin, and wished she could switch to it altogether (but our school did not offer it for credit, just 2 years of extra curricular). It was still hard for her, but easier than French. Or switch to Spanish (reputed to be easiest to learn). The downside of switching is that he may have to take more semesters in college to reach proficiency if they have a requirement.</li>
