So i have an interview next week and its freaking me out a little. it's an alumni interview and the thing that's worrying me is that it's taking place at a local diner. I know it sounds weird, but i find it so much more intimidating to be at a sit-down restaurant instead of a coffee shop or something. what if there's a lull in the conversation and we're stuck waiting for the check? What should i eat?

Besides those more irrational fears, I'm looking for advice as to what to say. I know I should ask questions that show I know a lot about and am interested in the school. But what kind of questions should I expect to answer?

Graciebo, if you think you will be extremely intimidating and unconfortable (sp) then call the interviewer and suggest another place.
Take a lot at the "funny interviews"post or whatever the name is lol, it has lots of experiences and you could learn from that what to order and so on.

Regarding questions, why don’t you take a look at the school’s brochure and or website and whatever info you have in hand and write down any doubt you might have, if you dont have any then its ok, otherwise your questions will sound totally fake and will give the interviewer a total different impression of yourself

Don’t worry about the location. Just order a drink – no food. The interviewer will pay for it – no need to be awkward “should I pay for our drinks?” I assume the alum has done this many times and will be able to move the conversation along. Ask questions about things that genuinely interest you – maybe things such as the community around the college, opportunities for ECs or clubs or volunteer orgs, questions about the alum’s time there as well – specific thing that he/she can recommend or had regrets about. Show interest in his/her experiences. Ask what eventually led him/her to choose the college and if there would be anything they chould change.
