Help please? Junior in Highschool

Hi! I need some help/opinions/inputs from you guys on here
So currently I am a Junior in High School, residing in Georgia
I am very interested in attending a school somewhere in New York
I have been living in the same place since forever now and it's not country here, but it's just very quiet outside and such. So I hope to be able to study someone in the big city, specifically New York. (Unnecessary info. lol)

Onwards, right now I have a GPA of 3.6-3.7 (I get A's and B's)
I am only involved in 2 clubs right now: Beta Club and Dream Team(which is like a club for volunteering)
I was in Art Club also sophomore year
I'm hoping to get at least 150 hrs. in before I graduate next year because I was told many colleges like when they see future students helping the community and such.

As for SAT/ACT scores, I have not taken it yet, but will be taking it sometime in April because my math teacher told me there are a lot of things on there that I have not learned yet and it would be best to wait. I plan on taking both of them. Oh! And I'd also would like to know what would be a good score to shoot for on them? I will be the first child in my family to go to college so I don't really have anyone around to help me :(

I really don't know what I want to major in. But I'm thinking about trying to become either a Social Worker, Teacher, or a Dermatologist?

The colleges I've been looking at are: (from greatest to least interested in)
- New York University
- Fordham University
- Syracuse University
- Manhattan College
- Columbia University (I don't think I have much of a chance to get in though, lol)

So yeah, what do you guys think? Anything I can do to heightened my chances of getting accepted in general? Your opinions and inputs would greatly be appreciated! And feel free to be as real/harsh as you can, no need to sugarcoat! Please and thank you! :)

I think you have a solid GPA and all you have to do is perform well on the SAT. Youll definitely have a chance.

Try for more ECs or getting more involved with the ones you are already doing

Sent from my iPhone using CC

I hope so!

@Hatshepsut: Yeah, I think I’m gonna have to do both, because I see a lot of people on here who are in a bunch of clubs

What can you afford? All those schools are $$$. For big merit money it would be good to have as near to a 4.0 as possible and an Act of at least 27 or 28…preferably higher. I am not trying to discourage you, but you need to be realistic. Going out of state is going to cost more money. What about your public schools in Georgia?

Sit down with your parents and see what you can afford.

4.0GPA and at least 27-28 on ACT, hmm…
I will try for this

And wouldn’t I be able to get student loans?

And I’m looking at schools in my state as well of course,
for back up :)
