OK, so i guess i'll get the point. I'm doing premed and majoring in classics and biology....(that's not completely set in stone, so I guess i'll need some wiggle room)

I am looking for a place that's pretty friendly and not completely in the middle of no where. I hope that it is challenging. (I went to class at denison University and it was...not what i had hoped...not alot of discussion and didn't seem terribly diffuclt.)

I hope for some diversity (not necessarily race) and opportunities such as study abroad.

Haven't visited Lawrence University (WI), so any suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Lawrence is small but is known to be particularly strong in the sciences. The school is located in the city of Appleton. Appleton is a smallish city but probably will feel much less isolated than Denison. The campus is quite nice. I don't know about their study abroad options but I am pretty sure they exist. Given what you say, I think Lawrence might be a better choice.

LU has a strong study abroad focus and a it's own London Center -- check the website for detailed information. As shennie said, it's very strong in sciences.

Thanks for the help guys...any thoughts on which is stronger academically?

Also, I don't think these schools are very recognized, will this matter when it comes to grad school or med school?

Both are good schools. You wouldn't go wrong with either. I'm tempted to say that Denison is better known though...it definitely gets more attention. Lawrence is a good school, but it tends to be more in the shadows.
Hard call.

I wouldn't enroll at a college without visiting though. So, for that reason, I'd pick Denison.

I don't know anything about Lawrence. DD1 attends Denison and loves it. She is challenged academically (and is no dunce - NMF). Maybe you got a bad class? Students are very friendly, open to diversity in all forms, Granville is a neat little town and Columbus is relatively close.

I wouldn't enroll in a school without visiting as well. If you can visit Lawrence, do. Then you can make a well informed decision. LU is a great school. I don't consider that it is in any shadow. But that is my opinion.

I’m in the same position. Can’t decide between LU and DU. They both seem like great schools! I’m an international student form India.

Oh and my major is undecided, but i want to major in the social sciences.

This thread is over six years old… you should start a new one.
