HELP PLEASE Letters of Rec

I have finished my common application and I am ready to submit soon. I’m getting really nervous about teachers getting my letters of recommendation on time. I am still waiting on my counselor and two others teachers to get them done before my first deadline which is January 1. I emailed them in October and I have followed up with them multiple times. The school I am applying to requires one letter of rec. Can I turn in my application without their letters of rec? I’m not sure what to do because I haven’t gotten a respond from the school or my teachers. (They are not checking emails over break)

I think some colleges allow additional materials from counsellors (like transcripts, letters of rec.) to be sent a few days after deadline as well (maybe 2-3 days). So ask your college, or tell them about your situation maybe they will consider for few days).

Submit your apps without the LoRs. Follow up next week with your HS GC, but many colleges (not all) allow materials from third parties to be submitted after the application deadline.

What colleges are you applying to?

My first deadline is January 1 for California Lutheran University. All the other colleges in applying to are due on January 15.

A few days late is fine unless a college specifically states otherwise. It’s not uncommon for adults who’ve done this before to know roughly how much time they need to write an LoR, then to fit it into their own schedules. Let’s hope that’s what’s happening.

I am responding to you after reading the thoughts of others. You should absolutely get the application in on time, but from my experience, there is some level of risk if you do not have the completed application in by the true deadline. That would include recommendations, grades (assuming they are available) and test scores. I am not saying you will 100% denied for a late recommendation, but please do everything in your power to meet all deadlines.

Thank you for your help. Thankfully one of my teachers was able to get my letter in on time. And I was able to get in contact with my admission counselor.

That is good to hear.
