Help please! - Regarding AP Physics exam!

Hi guys!
So I'm an incoming student, and I'll be taking the AP Physics B exam in two weeks. Though, I'm at a loss on whether or not I should take it at this point. On the website, it says that a 4 or 5 on the exam grants "2 quarters 10000-level PHSC," which if I'm not mistaken, simply means that I do not have to take the physical science requirement. However, I plan to be a bio major, and will thus end up taking chem regardless. In addition, I need to take physics classes for my major. Is it worth taking the test, if my interpretation is correct? If not, can any science majors comment on using AP credit? Thanks!

You are reading this correctly. [Examination Credit and Transfer Credit - University of Chicago Catalog](<a href=“Examination Credit < University of Chicago Catalog”>Examination Credit < University of Chicago Catalog)

The fact is that AP Physics B courses are great preparation for university level science & engineering physics courses. However, AP Physics B credit is worthless if your talking about majoring in the sciences. You’ll have to take calculus-based physics, which is a step up from non-calculus AP Physics B. If you read the catalog under physics, you’ll see that even calculus-based AP Physics C doesn’t make it for physics majors.

I think you want to put you effort into your other upcoming AP exams which are more important.

Thank you very much! If it just gets rid of my requirement, then there’s really no reason to focus on it, especially since I already need to take general chem again so I can fulfill my organic chem requirement. So, onto Calc and Stats I go!
