How do you format the essays for the common apps. I submitted the Cornell one with a format as follows:

I typed a line like this.

Then the next paragraph was like this without indents.

Do you think they will care? If they will, how should I format the other essays that use the commonapp online. Because I know that the first paragraph always avoids the indents. Please help. Thanks.

this is one of the reasons why i sent mine in on paper.

I didnt really care about the dents, although i did try several times (unsuccessfully) to indent the first para. I think they know something's wrong with that part of the app and I dont think it'll make much of a difference. However, I made the dents with the other paragraphs in order to distinguish them from each other.

If you read the directions on the common app, it specifically says to leave spaces, not indentations.

Eg-

Pargraph one.

Paragraph two.

okay nice. I did what existentialpony said. Thanks guys.

Instead of pressing tab, trying pressing the spacebar a few times, it looks the same.

1) space bar doesnt work for the first para.
2) where does the app tel us to leave spaces? I didnt... I hope it doesnt make much of a difference.

I can help. This is what I did: I put a period at the beginning of the frist line, then spaced down to the next line and spaced an indent. On the preview the period just looks like a speck and then the first paragraph is indented.
