So it’s past May 1st and I’ve already submitted my deposit to Georgetown. But today I got off the waitlist to one of my top schools, Vanderbilt. I am going to be majoring in health policy at GU on a pre med track and would be studying medicine+society at VU (pre med too). I have some questions about the schools and it would be EXTREMELY helpful if you guys could help me out.
-Which school is more competitive for pre-med?
-Does Vanderbilt have a really urban vibe rather than a city feel?
-Which school has a stronger academic reputation?
-Which school has more medical internship opportunities?
-Is Vandy generous with financial aid? (bc Georgetown isn’t lol)
I haven’t visited Vanderbilt but plan on going this weekend.
Lastly, any opinions on the schools would be more than helpful. Thanks in advance!
I think Georgetown may have a slightly stronger reputation for pre-med because it has a program where undergrads can apply to their med school without taking mcat or filling out apps, which is very appealing. I visited both schools and Vandy is probably more suburban than city. The schools are different though wrt culture - Vandy has 40% frats/sororities, where the number is a lot smaller for gtown. Vandy has more southeast students, while Gtown has more international students. If after going to vandy you’re still undecided, then go with the better financial aid.
Thank you! Still waiting on financial aid but I think I want to stay committed to GU @theloniusmonk
