I live in New York and I am a junior in high school. I've been looking at colleges and this one really grabbed my attention. There are some things i'd like to know though....

1) What is admissions looking for?
2) Is it important to have a lot of volunteer hours?
3) Is a 3.7 GPA good enough?
4) What is life on campus like?
5) How far is the closest beach?
6) Is it a diverse community?
7) What is the swim program like?

If you have a 3.7 you will be overqualified and might not get in. Instead, if you want to come to California for college, apply to any of the UC’s. Csu’s are great, but UC’s are more prestigous.

3.7 is by far good enough to be accepted. I don’t think CSUMB is one to reject over qualified students. The closet beach is in walking distance (you have to climb over some sand dunes, but its really not bad). If not that beach there one 5 mins away by car

If you have a 3.7, do not apply. I had a 3.8 and am in the 97th percentile of all students. It is very difficult to connect with students when you have different academic styles and aspirations. As for campus life, it is sleepy but easy to get involved. The closest beach is 1.5 miles away, and diversity here is fairly decent. I don’t know much about the swim team, sorry.
