I live in New York and I am a junior in high school. I've been looking at colleges and this one really grabbed my attention. There are some things i'd like to know though....

1) What is admissions looking for?
2) Is it important to have a lot of volunteer hours?
3) Is a 3.7 GPA good enough?
4) What is life on campus like?
5) How far is the closest beach?
6) Is it a diverse community?
7) What is the swim program like?

I can answer some questions for you.

SDSU only looks at your weighted GPA and your SAT score (Math+CR). Since you are OOS, you can only receive additional points for AP classes. SDSU uses a formula to decide to admit you or not. They multiply your weighted GPA times 800 and then they add your SAT score. For example, if you have a 3.7 GPA and a 1200 SAT, then you would have a score of 4160 ((3.7*800)+1200). If you have a score above 4,000 then you should be able to get into just about any major that the school offers.

SDSU does not ask for any EC’s. There is no place to report it on the application.

You should get accepted with a 3.7 as long as your SAT is a least 1100/1600.

I do not currently attend SDSU, but I recently visited as I have been accepted for fall 2012. The school seemed very social and active.

The closest beach is about 25 min by driving and about an hour if you take public transportation.

The campus seemed very diverse. It seemed about 50% white, but the other half of the people seemed to be from a lot of different places.

Hopefully someone else can answer this one for you.

Thanks, this really helped

Here are the course requirements that are needed to apply to SDSU btw.

If you have any other questions, feel free.

The campus is really nice! As far as the swim program goes, I would say it’s more than decent and their basketball team rocks! <----random, I know…
