I live in New York and I am a junior in high school. I've been looking at colleges and this one really grabbed my attention. There are some things i'd like to know though....

1) What is admissions looking for?
2) Is it important to have a lot of volunteer hours?
3) Is a 3.7 GPA good enough?
4) What is life on campus like?
5) How far is the closest beach?
6) Is it a diverse community?
7) What is the swim program like?

Hope this held, tried to answer the best I could:

1) They mainly consider your gpa, SAT’s or ACT’s, and your course load
2) Volunteer work definitely helps, but you don’t need to be a saint
3) I was accepted RD OOS with a 3.75 on a 5.0 scale. On a 4.0 scale my gpa would be about a 3.4. I have peers with lower class rank than I who were also accepted, but I do not know their gpa’s.
4) I have a friend who is a senior there, and from what I have heard life is pretty typical of what most colleges are like, except everyone spends a lot of time at the beach and the sports are not that great. Greek life is not a very big deal.
5) Wrightsville is less than 15 minutes away and it’s gorgeous! You can live there during the school year.
6) Not too diverse but the school is really trying to change that and hold a lot of multicultural events.
7) the swim team is one of the top ranked in the nation, both men’s and women’s.
