I am a junior in high school from New York and I am really interested in UT Austin and I wanted to know a few things...

What is the criteria like for admissions?

Do you need a lot of volunteer hours?

Is a 3.7 GPA unweighted, good enough?

What is campus like?

Where is the closest beach?

Is it a diverse community?

How is the swim program?

Is it big on school spirit?

What is something that makes the school unique?

OOS admission is a little more hit or miss so it’s hard to say whether a good GPA such as your own would suffice. Volunteer hours will help, but extensive involvement in extracurricular and cocurricular activities with a certain focus can add meaningful depth to your application.

Campus is great! Right in the heart of Austin, very pretty, lot’s of diversity and school spirit both on campus and around town. You should visit! I’m sure you would have a wonderful time.

The swim program is good, from what I hear, and the closest “beach” is in corpus christi about 3 hours away. Then there’s galveston and south padre island an additional 2-3 hours (beaches in texas aren’t great, but they are beaches).

What is your prospective major?
