Do you know if its possible to be a QB finalist if you haven't taken the SAT until October of your senior year? My brother was planning to take it this May or June but his teachers scheduled 2 separate finals on those exact days and he can either fail the class or not take the SAT. The makeup final is designed for you to fail(I saw some practice questions and it is extremely difficult, its basically 2 full ap practice tests of the subject in the time required for 1), so that's not really an option. All of his other stats are really strong, but I don't see this happening without an SAT score. Thoughts? Thanks.

Has he taken the ACT? And that is really strange for high school teachers to schedule a final for an exam on a Saturday. Has he tried asking his teachers if he can take he final a day early?

They said no, I guess the ACT is the only option. But he’s never studied at all for the ACT. He’s getting about 2100 on the SAT though. Are the skills the same?

Well ACT in my opinion was more fast-paced. There is less time to finish all the problems, but at the same time, a lot of people seem to suggest that ACT questions are a bit easier than SAT questions. I personally did much better on my ACT in comparison to my SAT. ACT also tests Science and Writing is optional. However, take the writing portion if you’re applying to Questbridge!

Here is the policy for late SAT tests:

QuestBridge will review any test scores that you receive prior to the National College Match application deadline of September 30. If you expect to receive new scores after September 30, please list your testing date(s) on the Testing Information page in the application, leaving the score fields blank. In order for your test scores to be considered by QuestBridge colleges for the College Match, you must take any required test(s) no later than October. Any testing done after October will be considered only in the Regular Decision process.
If you are selected as a finalist and you have new test scores you received after September 30, you should send those test scores directly to your ranked colleges from the College Board or ACT. You do not need to submit your new scores to QuestBridge. Refer to the National College Match Requirements for Finalists page for instructions regarding submission of test scores to colleges.
Please note that if you do not have any SAT Reasoning or ACT scores available for the September 30 deadline (i.e. you are taking the SAT/ACT for the first time as a senior), you can still apply to QuestBridge and it is still possible to be selected as a finalist if the rest of your application is very strong.

I was a Questbridge Finalist this year, and I recall the notifications for your “finalist or not” status to be available around end on October.

Hope this helps and good luck!
