Help Please!

Hi,

I am a young and inexperienced 14 year old living abroad, currently attending an international school. Recently my parents began urging me to start preparing for the SAT, so I thought I would get some help from this forum!

I began my SAT studies around 6 months ago (just studying on my own at home, about to attend a summer SAT course for an intensive 1 month), and things are definitely not going as well as I expected. The very first time I took a mock at home, I got a 1550. I was shocked and I was afraid that I will not be able to improve in time for my university applications. Fortunately my score boosted up to the mid 1900s within 3 months, which I am not very proud of.

I was just wondering whether there are any contemporaries out there who can please help me out by sharing your experience with SAT preparation... Is it normal for a top student aged 14 to get below 2000? My parents have high expectations from me and I also hope to get into an Ivy League University. Am I on the right track or do I need to work exceptionally hard to stand a chance?

Some facts about me:
- I am among the top students in my year (around top 5%).
- Grade 8 Cello - contributed to numerous orchestras in the last 3 years.
- Among the top athletes in the year (around top 10%) - I especially enjoy tennis (top 3% in year)
- Fluent in Korean, able to communicate simple language in Mandarin.
- Lived in Hong Kong for 7 years.

Thanks! Any feedback would be much appreciated. :)
