ok so i want to transfer to UCLA from SMC as MCDB major
ASSIST Report: SMCC 11-12 UCLA Articulation Agreement by Major

You can see that it is "strongly recommended" to take physics prior to transfer.

1) Will having only one of the two required physics courses completed before transfer significantly lower my chances for admission?

2) Is it possible to finish the second physics course in the summer of 2013 at SMC before transferring to UCLA in fall 2013?

Please and thanks in advance for any comments !

1) Since it says “strongly recommended” the applicants who have satisfied the requirement will have a better chance than you.

2) You can take the summer class but I believe the school will not take that into account when reviewing you for admission. They will determine admission based on your Fall and Spring courses.

Ok so they will not take it into account when reviewing me for admission.

However, if I were to take the second physics course in the summer prior to transfer, would I have completed the physics requirement? In other words, (assuming acceptance)
would I have to take any more physics classes (from UCLA’s Physics 6ABC sequence) after transferring?

Yes, by taking it over summer you’ll have completed the sequence before starting at UCLA and should therefore be exempt from taking anything there. When they say it won’t be considered for admission, it means just that: the school won’t consider you as having completed the sequence. Depending on your GPA and how many other prereqs you have done it really shouldn’t be an issue.

Ok. Thanks for all the feedback guys

One more thing: even if I’m missing one prerequisite
Can I still start on the upper division courses after I transfer
Or must i first complete the missing perquisite (in my case physics)
And then be allowed to take upper diviosion classes for thE degree

Let me rephrase that:

would I still be able to take upper division courses if I’m missing the physics? In other words, do most of them require physics as a prerequisite or not?

As long as physics isn’t a required prereq for the specific upper div class, yeah.
