Ok so I am a upcoming freshman and my highschool provides alot of AP classes and such but dont provide IB classes :( i can take the workloads and stuff, so can you guys give me a sample of what my freshman schedule should look like also what kind of extracurricular activites should i do, i am a well rounded student
1. I play the double bass/ bass guitar , the violin , and the trumpet, and i sing
2. I volunteer ( im already done with my requirements :) any more ideas of where a 14 year old could volunteer?)
3. I play on my schools basketball team, and track team
4. My final grade last year was a 3.8 :( ( B in Algebra )
5. Im in the the Gifted and Talented program (kind of like AP in middle school !)

( Note : is it possible to take two years of math a year ?) ( also i already took Algebra in middle school ! :) )
Also could you guys include as many ap classes that you can !

Thanks So Much, For the Tips
( please respond thanks !)

Freshman schedules vary by school. Assuming there are no subjects that you are awful at/tend to pull very low grades in you should take honors in every subject (it will prepare you in the long run). Personally I took English honors, algebra 1 (scheduling mistake that they could not fix, should have been in geometry honors), Spanish 1, biology honors, Hebrew 2 and civics honors. My friends who were in a more rigorous track then me freshman year took they same classes, except they were in Spanish 2 honors and geometry honors. That being said I know of some schools where you can’t take more then a few honors classes as a freshman and some where you can even take APs as a freshman. So like I said it really varies by school.

As for the volunteering look for something you are interested. Personally my main volunteering consists of volunteering at the organizations The First Tee (where I both coach and plan/help at events) and The Friendship Circle, as well as some volunteering at the library and my school. If you like art volunteer at a local museum, sports, start coaching, and so on. Really volunteering is so much fun if you like what you are doing.

As for taking two maths in one year… Yes, it is possible, though it varies by school. At my school you can officially take two, though it never works out due to scheduling (we do block scheduling). If you took algebra 1 in middle school I doubt the will make you retake it, instead having you take geometry, followed by algebra 2. That being said I would recommend not taking double math if it is your weakest subject (which I am guessing it is since it was your only B).

Not sure what you mean when you said “Also could you guys include as many ap classes that you can!” If you meant what AP classes have we individually taken/will be taking here is my answer, if not just clarify and I will respond again. Personally I am currently taking AP English Language and Composition, APUSH and self-studying for AP Art History. Next year I will be taking AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, AP Literature and a duel-enrollment psychology class (so I will probably end up taking the AP exam).

Sorry this was so long. Let me know if you have any more questions…
