I got rejected at St. Paul's and Kent School, and accepted to St. Marks and NMH. haven't heard from Exeter, so I'm guessing that's a no. since I'm international, I haven't visited any of the campuses, and I can only take off enough school for one revisit day. any preferences or anything you could tell me about St Marks and NMH and maybe Exeter?
thanks so much!

Honestly yo, you should be going to school that fits you rather than asking random people on the internet. People have varying opinions, ya know.

I would like to hear others opinions about it… I can’t visit both schools, so basically I don’t have much else to figure out which school ‘fits me’.

Go and revisit if at all possible. Which feels like “home”? Go there. Both will give you and excellent high school experience and prepare you well for college.

Exeter emailed a video at 6.30 Eastern on Saturday–probably to your parents’ account. If it isn’t on their inbox then check the spam filter as the header was Your Exeter Admissions Decision–and it was large because of the video link.

At least try to see if there will be Skype revisit stuff where some students–most important that you hear from present students, esp underclassmen–take questions. Call the Ad Office and see if such is scheduled or can be arraigned. I bet a number of kids at both schools might be in the same boat that they can’t get back to the school on revisit day.

First, do track down the email from Exeter - you (or your parents) should have received it. If you can’t find it, contact the school immediately.

Then, ask each of the schools to which you’ve been admitted to put you in contact with current students. If you have specific interests, ask to be put in contact with students with the same interests. Also check out the school’s social networking presence - such as Facebook. Do you like what you see?

Finally, NMH and St. Mark’s aren’t far from each other. Perhaps you can attend an official revisit day at one school, and then stop by the other school later in the day for an unofficial revisit. Contact the admissions office and ask if that’s something they might be willing to help you set up.

P.S. I’ve visited (and had a child apply to) both schools, and don’t have any strong feelings one way or another about either of them. But I will say one thing: NMH makes its own ice cream (using its own summer raspberries and cream from its own cows!) . . . and I ALWAYS make a point of detouring over to the school to pick some up whenever I’m in the area! So, if you really can’t find anything that leads you to prefer one school over the other, remember the ice cream! :)

I cannot answer questions about St Marks but my son was accepted at NMH and one of his good friends is a senior there. We absolutely love the place because of the lack of formality, the fact that every student has a job and of course the ice cream
