Help Please

Hi, I currently attend the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and will be a sophomore in the fall. I'm interested in transferring somewhere on the east or west coast, well anywhere really as long as its outside the midwest. I just ended up not liking the school and campus town very much, which did not surprise me because it was not my 1st choice. Anyway I had decent high school stats, 3.5 gpa and 27 ACT, but I fell off in college and got a 2.7 gpa for my first year. So does anyone have any advice of schools to apply to and what all do I need to do to make sure I get accepted?

anyone got some advice?

ummmmmmmmm i dunno that's kinda tough because of your GPA. i'd maybe retake your ACT to possibly open some more doors. And Illinois-UC is a good school, so it's not like you got a 2.7 at a CC.

so u really think retaking the act could help me or should i just get my gpa higher or both?

well both would obviously be the most helpful thing lol but the act is typically an easier thing to improve. of course work on your gpa as well and improve it as much as you can, but start with ACTs or SATs. A good test score on your application + lackluster GPA is better than an average test score + lackluster GPA.
