Help please!

Hi, I am currently doing some college searching, and would like to know of some schools that may offer substantial merit aid to a student like me (if there are any), or schools that would possibly give me need based aid that is mostly grants. Right now I am looking to major in Engineering, but I want a school with a pretty diverse offering. I would like a school with a medium-large student body, in preferably a suburban or slightly urban setting. I would prefer to stay relatively close to home, in the Midwest, but would consider an eastern school as well. I have done some online calculators for EFC, and they say anything from $4000-$6000. I have a brother that will be entering college at the same time as me. What kind of aid does the University of Michigan or Michigan State University give to an instate student like me? Are there any other schools that you would suggest I look into?
