I'm incredibly worried and I really need someone to chance me!

I go to a really good school, but I'm not at the top of my class or have a stellar gpa or ECs...

I have a 3.5 cum. GPA but I'm getting a 3.8 this fall
My courses this year are: (my school doesn't have APs but ranks the courses as 100 being introductory level, and 500 being college level)

500 - Calculus (equivalent to AP Calc AB)
500 - US History
400 - Advanced Design (fall term)
400 - Biological Roots of Human Behavior (winter term)
500 - Race (spring term)

and my other AP equivalents have been european history, chemistry, and english my junior year

AP Scores:
5- Chem
4 - English Lit

SAT IIs:

My college list is:

Tufts - ED
University of Vermont - EA
Columbia
Brown
Duke
UVA
NYU
John Hopkins
Villanova
Boston University
Union
U Rochester

What do you think?

bump
help please!

help me...!

you're joking right?

you're in at villanova, bu, university of vermont

no, I'm not joking.

I'm pretty sure that brown is just an auto rejection, and applying regualr to columbia doesn't give me much of a shot, but everything else is pretty attainable according to my research.

3.8 unweighted?

I'll assume so, since SATs and everything else are honestly fairly awesome. The theater stuff works, too.

Tufts - high match
University of Vermont - Safety
Columbia - Reach
Brown - Reach
Duke - Reach
UVA - Out of state or not? Definite match instate, but this is a reach otherwise.
NYU -match, maybe a little harder, they get a lot of people interested in theater.
John Hopkins
Villanova - safe match
Boston University - safety
Union - safe match
U Rochester - safe match

Brown and Columbia aren't entire auto-rejections. You'll definitely need a good essay though. And you should be alright -even though SAT essays are a little different than application essays, a 12 isn't bad at all.

At the same time, you don't stand out significantly, unless you can really pull things together with the essay and theater (or really just an essay that sets you apart). They're trying to choose people who will contribute to the school as a whole -people who bring something to the world beyond your own.

If you can show that, you're pretty much set. You're definitely competitive.

3.8 unweighted, yea. My school doesn't weigh GPAs so I honestly don't even know what it is weighted!
Thanks a ton for your advice!

If they don't weight, then that shows on your transcripts/counselor reports. So no worries -you're taking hard classes as is.

In getting more information across/proving that there's more to you/expanding, try to get recs that say the same thing. That you participated in class and brought something to discussions or everyone else.

If you didn't, no worries. Just aim for recs or teachers that explain what you're trying to explain in your application.

I also believe Tufts values the essay more than other schools, so it should be an opportunity to show off.

bump bump bump

ten charactors

bump bump bump

bump up! yay!

Tufts is a reach
