I am currently a high school senior and I was wait listed practically everywhere I applied. I don't care for either of two schools I did get into (Rutgers University w/ Honors or SUNY Binghamton) so I definitely plan on transferring to another school for fall of 2009. I have a few questions for you though:

1). Will my need for financial aid have a negative impact on my chances of transferring even if I apply to schools that are need blind

2). Would I be able to get some advice on what kind of schools i would be able to transfer to with a HS GPA of 89.96 UW and 91.72 weighted with 4 aps and honors in everything except foreign language, and a 1390/1600 2100/2400 on my SATS?

forgot to add that this GPA came from pure laziness (ie not studying/ doing homework on occasion)

and for ECs:
Football 9-12 captain and all league selection senior year, co-winner of Marotti award for best offensive lineman
Track 9-11 both indoor and outdoor
Mock Trial 11 & 12 captain senior year
Boys state Delegate
Peer Educator through Princeton/Hi Tops program in my school
History Club Grade 12

Would be transferring for a Political Science major

What is your high school GPA out of 4.0? Your chances for transfer admission are largely based on your performance next year as well as the rigor of courses you intend to take. Your SATs are not on par with the Ivy League, but perhaps a notch lower would suit you better? As a freshman transfer, your high school record will be of prime importance given you will only have completed one semester of college.

Your need for financial aid will not hurt you as far as admissions are concerned, but transfers usually receive little aid.

Where would you like to go? What is is that you don't like about the schools where you have been accepted?

The hs record will be a fairly substantial factor if you want to transfer as a sophomore, because schools will only have one term of college results from you when they make the decision.

Thank you for the help, I don't know what my GPA is out of 4, a 3.4 uw, 3.6 w i think it would be?
Also what would be considered a notch lower than the Ivies? (I wasn't planning on applying to any Ivies any way but I just want to know around what level would be best to apply to)
