HELP! please!

My choices for the fall of 08 are:

UCSB
-love the campus
-worried i won't be able to focus with location/party lifestyle
-don't have many options for my major(s)
-closest to home

USD
-love the location
-like that it is private
-worried it will be too much religion for me (i am not religious)
-cost!

SDSU
-like the broad range of majors
-love the location
-admire the school spirt
-too many people?
-worked too hard through high school to go to a state?

CSULB
-worked to hard through high school to go to a state?
-love the chill campus
-GREAT kinesiology program
-not so good location

have any advice for me?

UCSB... San Diego State and CSU Long Beach are also party schools, but with a worse education. USD is too expensive for the quality of education you get. If you feel that you can't handle UCSB then you can always transfer to a state school.

assuming you're planning on majoring in Kinesiology or something similar at UCSB, you probably also have career ideas. You should start investigating pronto how you'll be able to get ready for these in college. Internships, placement into PT school if that's what you're thinking, etc.

UCSB is surely the superior school on that list. Great location too. Long beach and San Diego State are party schools and you'll get an inferior education. USD costs a lot but is a beautiful campus. Though I do not know if they are known for your major.

For the money, UCSB is the best school on that list. USD isn't that great of a school, and it's expensive.

As for CSUs... not worth it in my opinion. You can't compare a CSU education to a UC education (except for maybe Cal Poly SLO).

"USD is too expensive for the quality of education you get."
There are many, many, many other expensive private schools out there that USD is a much better school than.

Personally, I would probably lean toward UCSB, with USD a close second. USD has a pretty sweet campus though, and you'll get much more professor/student interaction. UCSB is in a great location as well though. Depending on the $$ issue, I would definitely go with one of those two.

"There are many, many, many other expensive private schools out there that USD is a much better school than. "

That may be true, but it still doesn't mean it's not worth the costs.

I agree with Chris. As good as a school can be, USD is no Harvard. When your comparing 45k to 23k, it seems like a no brainer to go to UCSB which is equally as good as USD. How about transfer to USD after two years and save 40k if that was your first choice?

USD is not that religious surprisingly...id probably bring it down to UCSB and USD..depends on what you like....bigger population (SB) vs. smaller population (SD). publice vs private. USD actually provide you with more job oppurtuinities after graduation because of its location (SB is more of a tourism place, so there arent many big companies). dont know much about SDSU, but it cant be that bad because i know a few ppl who I got in UCI, UCD, and UCSB but didnt get SDSU, so it cant be too bad =/. USD and UCSB are both BEAUTIFUL campuses though...SB is more natural aesthetics whereas SD is more campus aesthetics (something u should also take into consideration). sports also basketball (USD) vs Soccer (UCSB)...lots of things...I personally would take USD if I could afford it, but UCSB wouldnt be very far behind at all....there are LOTS of things to consider.....oh and about your cost worries USD's average financial aid package was around 25K accoording to collegeboard, so if your parents can cover teh rest...or you can get scholarships (which I know you can)
