Hi guys, I'm an international student and transferred from college A to college B after freshman year. Now Here's a big trouble that need your advice:

After freshman year(2009-2010), I successfully transferred from college A to college B, however, after transfer, I forgot to drop those courses I registered at college A for next semester which used for backup. 3 years later, today, I just noticed there's a $12,000 past due charge on my old school's account and they refuse to issue me a transcript unless it's paid in full. But the thing is I have already transferred at that moment and haven't taken any single class at college A in that semester. I have all the proofs of my transfer. But can I not pay this money if legally speaking? Thank you.

You need to call College A and talk to them.

Yes, I called. But they said it’s been a long time and passed the time to dispute. I don’t know what to do next. BTW, I’ve contacted all the professors and they are willing to prove my absence in the semester. I just wonder who should I talk to?

I thought most schools will drop the registration if no payment received before the classes started.

BTW, in the US, does the school have forms like Transfer Certificate? If so, where can i get it? thanks

What was the University?

To 4kidsdad: Yeah!!They should have done that. But I’m just worried if they really have known my transfer??

It was Arizona State

Also why you need the transcript from college A again? You should only need the transcript from the college you graduated from (in your case, college B).

Becasue I’m going to take a CPA exam(certified public accountant), it requires 150 credit hours, so they might need both transcripts. that’s weird

Oh. Not yet! I think I might wanna try tmr. Thanks.

Any transferred credits from college A should already on the college B’s transcript.

Also would it be cheaper than $12000 to make up those accounting hours at college B?

Yep, I konw. But the sucky thing is they might still ask for the old one.

It might be cheaper, but i’m worried if they still want the old transcript and this is why I feel so anxious
