help! points system

Do they count senior year classes in the 40+ a-g classes points thing?
I found out about this today so I didn't cater my app about leadership and awards to it. Is there a way to add stuff? I mean I was nominated for a national award that I didn't put down but I put I won it for my region. I didn't put down being 2nd at league. What about leading a schoolwide freshman orientation program? Does that count as a major leadership role? What about national honors organizations and summer programs? If you have for leadership positions will u get 150x2 points? And for parents education do u get points for each parent? This whole thing is new to me and i'm confused. haha. If u meet the point cutoff are you automatically in? Do other UCs do this? Can anyone provide some insight?

i dont think ucsd has a point system...

I thought they do have point system.

yea there's a website with the exact number of points u get for each value... which brings me back to my original question

UCSD has a point system. Here's the link to their website:

<a href="http://www.geocities.com/kisasong/UCSDComprehensive.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.geocities.com/kisasong/UCSDComprehensive.htm</a></p>

The cut off is:

2004 ---> 7465
2005 ---> 7483
2006 ---> 7421

If you are above the cut off, you are accepted. If I were you, I will wait till I get the results. If rejected, you can appeal with the nomination and other leadership roles that you didn't mention in your application. If you are accepted, then you don't have to do a thing.

As for points for parents education, You get points if neither of your parents are college graduate. If any one of them are college grad. You are not "first generation to attend college" and won't get the points.

what about ucla?

The only other UC that publish their point system is UC Davis. UCLA and the others probably use some kind of point system but they don't publish it.

Actually, I'm pretty sure UCLA and UCB don't use point systems, but I could be wrong. More selective schools I would think though wouldn't use such automated procedures in admittance.

ucsd does have a point system, i found the page on their site that divulges it:

<a href="https://tritonlink.ucsd.edu/portal/site/prospective-students/menuitem.24134797e5e2fd95a0b86710514b01ca?storyID=20690%5B/url%5D">https://tritonlink.ucsd.edu/portal/site/prospective-students/menuitem.24134797e5e2fd95a0b86710514b01ca?storyID=20690</a></p>

it says the maximum number of points awarded for each section but not how many for each individual circumstance like the geocities site....

also, someone stated the cutoffs for past years, did someone contact admissions and find out?

This doesn't say how much the essay is worth. Are the essay's even worth points?

^
so is the essay worth any points?

essay's probably the make it break it point if you're borderline.

Essays aren't worth any points. They are only read for extra information that would score you points (for example, explaining special circumstances)

Do some searches; there are really good posts regarding the points system
