Help Pomona isn't responding

Its March. I haven't recieved any conformation. I am starting to worry. I called Pomona about a week ago, they said they were still processing applications. I had my counselor call on the first, they told her everything was in order. Then why haven't I received anything? Am I worrying for nothing, is Pomona just behind schedule? What could possibly be going on? Help me please. thanks.

IF your counselor called, don't worry. They get a lot of apps, and the paperwork is very time consuming. Talk to your counselor again if you are feeling stressed. She/he should be able to assure you that everything is in order.

i didnt get a confirmation, but when i called the lady went through each part of the app and made sure that i had everything in. and i did. so dont worry, its okay. if they pomona office said they have everything, they DO. they have no reason to lie.

My son enclosed pre addressed stamped post cards that said "please return this card when you receive this document. Thank you." They were put in all of the teacher recs, the application, the mid year and secondary reports. He's gotten them all back. Perhaps they are contacting people who don't have everything in order instead of those that do?

They sent me an email address to send a message to which automatically checks for any missing documents and gives a response in about 2 minutes. Did you get that? It just had an address and an ID number so it knew which file to check...

i didnt get an e-mail like that. but i have everything in. i wonder why.

yes I haven't received a single notification that they even know I exist. Though my counselor called and reassured me that they said they had everything, I can't help thinking that they messed up my application somehow . . .

Last year Pomona and CMC were 2 schools my S heard hardly anything from, except for coaches. He thought that was a bad sign. He was accepted to both. Theses are colleges that don't do a lot of solicitations or mailings until you get accepted. They don't have to. He was accepted to both and is happy as can be at Pomona.Once accepted you will get all kinds of mailings, shirts, decals, etc Just relax as these next few weeks have to go by.

arizonamom, i respectfully disagree. I think it is incumbant upon the colleges to, at the very least, notify people like classact05 that their application is complete and being reviewed. Just because "they don't have to" send out a lot of material doesn't mean that they should be irresponsible in basic admissions process notification.

just my 2 cents...

classact, calm down. its ok. if you want, why dont you fly out and personally check? if your counselor telling you that the OoA said they have it isnt confirmation, i dont know what is. do you want a big envelope with the words "CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN RECIEVED!!!" and a small piece of paper confirming your information? remember, pomona isnt too big and they do get a lot of apps for their size. give them a break.

This suggestion is too late now, but it has worked really well for us. Perhaps if there is a lurker for next year....

Enclose self addressed and stamped post cards that say something along the lines of "please return this card when you receive this document. Thank you." My sons put those in all parts of the applications, the teacher rec envelopes (he sent addressed/stamped envelopes to them with the eval survey), the midyear and secondary reports. He has folders for each school where he keeps the copies of the applications and these cards as they come back. They've all come back, some even have dates added or stamped on them, some just have the postmark. At any rate, it saves a bundle of worry over whether it was received or not, and there is now evidence with a postmarked date that said item came before the deadline.

Arrived today. " Application is complete". We're about 30 min.s from Pomona. So we may be the first to get these cards.

If your application were not complete, you would have received an e-mail. D received one (ED1) because her GC hadn't answered the questions about suspensions, etc. I guess, in this instance, no news is good news?!

I just received the application complete postcard, as well. But it says they will notify us by MID April!!! OMG, that is more than a month away! AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

yeah, i got my app recieved thing in the mail today too. what the heck, "mid-april"???? Pomona is the school i care about the most, how can they do this to me?? im going to be a mess no matter how many accepts/rejects i get until i see what pomona has to say!

got complete card in mail today...

If I did not like some of these schools SO much, I would be completely jaded by now by this whole admissions "game". Frustrating to say the least.
