okayy so Vassar is my first choice for college, but im anxious that i wont be taken seriously as an applicant, because i only have a high B+ average.

However, i want to study theatre in college, and i have been able to have a sucessful high school career in Drama and Music.

will this catch Vassar's attention at all?

if anyone could answer my question i would greatly appreciate it.

i think the thing to think about is this: vassar will most likely look at what you have accomplished in high school in relation to your interests. i myself am involved in theatre so i do know the pressure of keeping good grades with all of the rehearsals, etc. but a high b+ average is not bad. of course the average grade percentage of accepted students is around a 96% grade average, your theatre accomplishments will be analyzed more and taken into deeper consideration. however, if you are able to show vassar that you have raised your gpa to an A average, they will be impressed even more and will give you an edge. of course, standardized test scores, other accomplishments and EC'S matter also. and being a female from connecticut definitely doesnt help. do everything you can to sell yourself

I'd say you're in okay shape. I don't know about this year's class, but I know for mine (2011) the average GPA was an A-, which doesn't sound too far off from you. So basically, your GPA isn't going to be THE REASON you get into Vassar, but at the same time, it's not going to make you an undesirable candidate by any means. Do well on your standardized tests, take classes that are challenging you, keep up your ECs, and you've got a good chance.

As for being a female from Connecticut.... as someone who was in the same situation as you, I agree that it isn't going to help you very much: Connecticut girls are a dime a dozen as far as the admissions office is concerned. As with your GPA, however, the fact that you are a female from CT won't make you utterly uninteresting either... as long as you have aspects to you (such as the drama and music stuff you're currently involved in), you'll have a decent chance.

Also (no offense meant by this next comment), depending on your ethnicity, you could also get a bit of a boost... Vassar is definitely looking for a diverse class, and if you are part of an "underrepresented minority," you'll appeal a lot more in the admissions process.

And, lastly, if you're really serious about Vassar, consider applying EDI. I don't know how much of a boost it gives you in terms of admissions chances, but it definitely demonstrates interest in the school. Oh, and also, be sure to use the Yourspace part of the Vassar application for your music/drama involvements... it's a great area of the application to show-off the ECs you're involved in.

The admission stats from the accepted students page for 2012 say that the mean GPA, unweighted, is an A- (as littleatheist said). Mean SAT scores...2040-2220
And Connecticut is the state with the 5th greatest representation
as for getting in, I agree that if Vassar is your true first choice, apply ED. Show them that you really want to be there, and maybe you will :)
