For anyone thinking of applying with an arts supplement, there was a discussion on CC last winter (started by a student applying to the fine arts dual-degree program) that dealt a little with sending us an arts portfolio.

It's recommended reading - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tufts-university/467043-dual-degre-question.html - but the most salient sentiment is added below:

Please, carefully consider the value of sending an art portfolio to Tufts. We are not qualified to make a judgment on it in an artistic sense. And with that in mind, I do not encourage applicant to send us a portfolio, but for those who choose to do so, I'll offer some guidance.

Submitting your work with the intent to demonstrate a broader personal quality about yourself, rathar than to explicitly demonstrate your artistic skill. Pick one or two works that reflect your personality, your values, or your ways of thinking and send those in; an entire portfolio is overkill and will get in the way of noticing the important things you are trying to show. Make sure your prints that will fit in an 8.5x11 manilla envelope and will not require special equipment to see.
